The SICA Awards for Excellence in cinema is a benchmark in the annals of movie world as these awards are given away to honour the countless people who toil relentlessly behind and before the screen to produce celluloid masterpieces. The efforts of great stalwarts in the industry who toiled tirelessly over several years for the benefit of its members bore fruit and the association grew to a magnificent level.
As a positive development, it was decided to recognize and honor all those who had performed significantly in the field every year. That is how SICA recognizes all achievers for their immense contribution to the film world. SICA has instituted a mega annual programme where the ‘Cine Bests’ of the year would be honoured with awards.
It was therefore decided to conduct the awards ceremony in a big way for both the years and for the next year as well in 2006.
SICA conducted the hugely popular SICA Awards function on 23rd November 2003 at Nehru Stadium with a galaxy of stars from Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi and top most technicians of the Film industry. The highlight of the program was a dance performance by popular Bollywood star Salman Khan.
SICA’s star members are working as cinematographers and directors in all Indian languages. Hence it was decided to institute awards in all the Indian languages.
SICA also made elaborate plans to conduct the SICA AWARDS function in a big way in 2004 and 2005. However they suffered many insurmountable problems with the tsunami natural disaster where the whole industry was terribly affected.

The Prestigious SICA Awards which honors the wonderful talent of the South Indian Film Industry was back with a bang last year! The grand event was held in Malaysia on the 9th and 10th of January 2015. Members of the entire Film fraternity across India graced the occasion and extended their support and wishes to the Cinematographers and our SICA organization.
