The Arri Alexa is a film-style digital motion picture camera system made by Arri is the most preferred digital cinema camera by most of the leading cinematographers in the world.
It was first introduced in April 2010 and then it went on to upgrade and introduce each model with much research and care.
During February 2015, Arri announced Alexa Mini which is the most compact model suitable for all kind of filming. It can be mounted to professional gimbal, drones etc and can also be controlled wireless.
It has the same sensor as the other Alexa cameras, equipped with 4:3 sensor, automatic de-squeeze mode for anamorphic production.
It features a super-lightweight carbon fibre body (it weighs about 5 pounds including PL lens mount and built-in motorized ND filters) and frame rates of 0.75 to 200 fps in ProRes. It outputs UHD (3840 x 2160) with the help of in-camera up scaling. Native resolution outputs include uncompressed ARRIRAW 2.8K and ProRes 3.2K.
Arri Alexa mini allows for variety lens mount options that include EF lens mount. The ALEXA Mini also provides built-in motorised 0.6, 1.2, 2.1 ND filters that eliminate the necessity to utilise a Matte Box and additional filters when needed.
Arri ALexa mini boasts 14 plus stops over the entire sensitivity range from EI 160 to EI 3200 and base sensitivity of 800.
Other features include exposure assist like Peaking, Zebra, false color and viewfinder options include MVF-1 (OLED and LCD) with flip-out LCD screen.
Apart from, in camera recording it can be recorded externally. Codex has worked with ARRI to develop the Codex Multi-Camera Recorder, which will work with both Codex Capture Drive and Codex Capture Drive 2.0. The Multi-Camera Recorder allows for simultaneous ARRIRAW recording, one of six of the Mini’s codecs, from four different ALEXA Minis.
This makes it perfect for use in multi-camera setups, such as 360 degree plate shots. Codex Capture Drive 2.0 is designed providing 2TB of memory at up to 20 GB/s bandwidth.
Alexa mini is the camera which has no compromise for its quality and most economically priced compared to other ARRI ALEXA models.
